The first Therm-a-Rest was designed and made by two out-of-work Boeing employees using a piece of open-cell foam, air-resistant fabric, and an old sandwich maker to melt them together! It's safe to say that they've come a long way from then (at least in terms of production!) but the spirit which motivated them is still very much alive and well. Therm-A-Rest has been the benchmark brand of sleeping mats now for more than 30 years, and they've kept at the forefront of technology with continual award-winning progressions and innovations.
