In 1965, an American, William D. Sweasy, started making high-quality boots and shoes for the outdoor craze that was beginning to sweep the nation. Vasque started to garner a large and loyal following almost immediately. Always making use of the best technology and expertise available (in 1971, Yvon Chouinard, founder of Patagonia and Black Diamond, designed two boots for them!) Vasque has been forging new paths, literally and technologically, ever since. One of the first companies to develop a boot breathable enough to be used with the then-new ultralight Gore-tex® XCR.
